A loyal dog, who stayed at the doorstep of a hospital in Wuhan for more than 3 months, finally went to a shelter.
In February, Xian Bao, the 7-year-old dog, arrived with his old owner at the height of the coronavirus pandemic at Wuhan Taikang Hospital in Central China's Hubei Province.
Unfortunately, Xian Bai’s owner died just in 5 days, but he did not want to leave, according to a 65-year-old hospital cleaner called Zhu Youzhen. The disease killed more than 3,800 humans in the city, Xian Bao’s owner was one of them.
Xian Bao waited more than 3 months in the hospital’s lobby as he was not aware that his owner died, and the staff fed him during that time.
He was then cared by Wu Cuifen, the shopkeeper of the hospital market on April 13th, after the lockdown restrictions were lifted in Wuhan.
Ms Wu said that the dog was so loyal, and never wanted to leave the hospital, and he’d make his way back to the hospital, when he was deliberately dropped off far away.
Many concerns and complaints were sent to the staff of the hospital on May 20th by the regular patients, after seeing him roaming the corridors.
The Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association was called by some nurses from the hospital, and they came and took the dog in. Thankfully, the vets treated Xian Bao, and he will be rehomed soon. How loyal! Watch the video below.
